IE and CSS
Earlier, I always used to here stories about how IE doesn't render some CSS styles properly. I always used to think these are small minor issues in design and nothing serious... until yesterday.
I was hired for designing a new very elaborate wordpress theme for some site and after a lot of hard work, I finally completed it as specified by the client.
I was using IE7 for testing my design and if I was logged on Ubuntu (yes.. I am running Ubuntu, but only on my onboard card), I was using Firefox.
I didn't have Internet access yesterday so I went to an Internet cafe to upload my design on a test wordpress installation. Those computers had IE6 installed.
Imagine my shock when I realized that the main content of the page doesn't even appear in IE6. Nothing! Blank! Thin Air! Only the sidebar! Its as if nothing was supposed to be there.
After realizing its IE6's fault, I was googling for a solution and I found these 2 sites:
Explorer Exposed!
IE6 CSS Bug
Apparently, IE6 has a huge list of issues about CSS, and one that inflicted me was something to do with absolute positioning and layouts under DIVs.
And I thought the only reason people really hated IE was because of the security issues!

Sigh.. I hate to optimize my templates JUST for Internet Explorer.
Its Bad for MS too, If they make it standards compliant, then lots of websites will need to be re-optimized. So MS is stuck Either way..
